Kosovo is a separate trademark territory. EUTMs, national registrations elsewhere and Madrid designations of other countries give no rights here. Only a filing at the Kosovo Industrial Property Agency (IPA) does.
Kosovo is first-to-file
Rights go to whoever files first, not whoever is famous elsewhere. Local distributors, ex-partners or opportunists sometimes register foreign brands before the owner arrives.
What happens if you don't register
You may be blocked from importing, forced to buy back your own name, or unable to stop counterfeits and copycat social accounts. Customs can only act for registered marks.
How filing works for foreign owners
You file through a licensed local agent with a simple signed power of attorney — no notarisation in ordinary cases. We handle filing, office actions and renewals remotely.
Timeline and cost
Filing within 1–3 working days of clearance; certificate typically in 8–14 months. Official fee €250 for one class plus €40 for each extra class. Protection lasts 10 years, renewable.
